Early Roman Mosaic Brooch Circa 1930
This wonderful Roman mosaic brooch
measures just 1 3/8" from east to west and 1/4" from north to south.
This is set in brass and marked "Italy" on the back. This is a Victorian Revival
mosaic brooch circa 1930s.
The brooch has a ball type hinge with a "C" type catch.
There are two types of Italian mosaics. The Roman, or micro mosaics. This is
made of tiny bits of colored glass called tesserae which are pieced together to
form a picture. It is held in place with cement in a glass or stone background.
Roman mosaics catered to the tourist trade.
Condition: Like New.
As with all of my items this comes from a smoke free home.
