Antique German 17" Bonnie Babe

This wonderful 17" bisque headed baby is Bonnie Babe made by Georgene Averill circa 1920s. She has a cloth body with composition arms a legs.

Her bisque head is incised with "Copr. by/ Georgenne Averill/ 1005/3652/2/Germany.

She has beautiful blue sleep eyes with painted upper and lower eyelashes. She has the wide baby nose with accented nostrils. Her mouth is open showing her two lower baby teeth and tongue. She has those wonderful baby cheeks that you just want to squeeze! She has a solid domed head with lightly molded and painted hair. This size head was made by Alt, Beck & Gottschlack.

She is wearing an all antique matching 3 piece baby gown. She has a one piece sheer cotton pantalets, over that is a matching slip and then her beautiful gown. The gown has pin tucking down the front as well as several different types of embroidery around the hem line. The open drawn work lace around her hem line is fantastic! Her slip has the same pin tucks, embroidery and lace around the hem line. Her pantalets have the matching lace. She is wearing newer knit socks.  Her antique bonnet does not match her gown but is just as beautiful. Her ribbons are replacement ribbons.

Condition:  Her cloth body is strong without any tears or repairs of any kind. Her composition legs are typical of Bonnie Babe and have some crazing and loss. There is no repaint. Her bisque head is without any chips, cracks or repairs of any kind.

As with all of my items she comes from a smoke free home.
