14" Edwina Amberg Doll Circa 1928

What a wonderful 14" Edwina Amberg doll! Marked on her back Amberg//Pat. Pend.//L.A. & S. © 1928. She is all composition with her dome shaped neck fitting into a socket in the head that resembles the Patsy dolls,  fully jointed with an additional waist joint, molded painted hair, side part, swirl bangs across the forehead, finely painted lashes and brows, brown eyes, gray eye shadow and closed mouth. She has one of the softest looking faces!

In The Collector's Encyclopedia of Dolls" by Coleman page 34 these dolls were called "IT" dolls. This could possibly be because in the 1920's a silent movie actress was known as the "It Girl". That is not documented but my idea only.

She is dressed in an age appropriate sailor type hand made cotton blue knickers, white cotton top, rayon socks, paper oilcloth side snap cream shoes with bows in front.

Condition: Fantastic! She is without any chips, repaint or repairs. She has a great patina with an excellent face!

As with all of my items she comes from a smoke free home.
