Mohair Duck

This 7" mohair duck was made by "The Bear Lady". Monty and Joe Sours began creating collector teddy bears in 1981. A great deal of time was spent studying teddy bears as well as other animals to determine the features that create the warmth of the teddy. They were studied in zoos as well as their natural habitat. The idea was to capture the personality of each animal rather then an anatomically correct representation.

Monty and Joe Sours were the first artists to create a mohair plush teddy bear completely from scratch. They started with an angora goat. "Bear Lady" bears and animals have been the recipients of numerous awards including "Golden Teddy Award" and "Toledo Glass City Award" as well as many others. Their llama "Calista" has been nominated for the 1999 Toby Award. Their bears are featured in numerous museums throughout the United States as well as Europe and Japan. They are also featured in Steven Cronk's book "World's Most Lovable Bears" (p 126-127).

Matilda is a 7" mohair duck with glass eyes and ultrasuede beak and feet. She has wire armature in her neck.

As you can see by the pictures she is signed by both Joe and Monty Sours.

This duck is one of my favorites! What's not to love about Matilda?

Condition: New

As with all of my items she comes from a smoke free home.
