Vintage English Chiltern Riding Dog

This sweet little dog is from the 1950s. It was made by Chiltern of England. My guy stands 19 1/2" from front wheel to top of head and 19 1/2" from nose to tail.

He is made of what feels like mohair and filled with excelsior. His ears are felt lined with a bell in his left ear.  He is attached to a red metal frame with metal disc wheels and rubber tires. He wears a red and green plaid ribbon.

I have no idea what type dog he is. His fur is darker on his legs then on the top of his head. He has plastic amber eyes with a molded plastic nose. His mouth is stitched in a downward position. As far as I can tell these are all original to him. As you can see by the pictures he still retains his original tag on his tummy. He also has another tag on his leg but I'm unable to read it. 

Condition:  As you can see by the pictures he has about 75% of his fur. Most of his fur loss is on his back and sides. where a  child would have  ridden him. He does look as if he has been repaired with clear thread at the seam near his left ear.  He has been cleaned and is free of any type of odor.
